Filinvest Land Statement on Protest of Small Homeowner Group

A small number of One Oasis Cagayan de Oro homeowners disturbed Filinvest Land’s Cagayan de Oro office operations on Thursday, June 3. These homeowners have been remiss with payments of association dues and utility charges with some for as long as 3 years. In keeping with the condominium corporation policies, which the homeowners are aware of, their water access was discontinued. Up until recently and despite the non-payments, they have continued to enjoy access to amenities and common services including security, property management, maintenance and housekeeping funded by dues paid by the other homeowners of One Oasis Cagayan de Oro.

“The reality is the vast majority of the homeowners are current in all their payments and the Condo Corp. has been even handed in applying the House Rules to all the homeowners. It is unfortunate that until now, they haven’t expressed any intentions to comply. We understand that there may be circumstances unknown to us. We will continue to uphold the house rules to be fair to all homeowners who are forced to carry the burden of the remiss payments,” said Ivy Gamotin, Filinvest Land Geographic Project Manager for North Mindanao.

One Oasis Cagayan De Oro is Filinvest Land’s Asian-Balinese inspired master-planned community of mid-rise residential buildings set within a 2.7-hectare property at the heart of downtown Cagayan de Oro City. It boasts of over 50% open spaces and lush greenery. It offers one-bedroom and two-bedroom units fit for those who enjoy independence or for growing families. This condo community is home to a full range of amenities such as a fitness gym, clubhouse, swimming pool, kiddie pool, or play basketball. One Oasis CDO upon completion will have five seven to eight-storey mid-rise buildings.

“Through One Oasis Cagayan de Oro, we were able to provide stable employment and a steady source of income for Kagayanons directly and indirectly. Our employees, sales force, broker partners, and service providers in turn have helped us serve the needs of our clients. We have also been an active supporter on the environmental preservation front. We collaborated with DENR and the AFP through the years to plant over 1,500 mangrove trees to date in the coastal areas of Cagayan de Oro city with the help of our employee volunteers. These are all in line with our commitment to be a dependable partner of the national and local government in nation building and caring for the community,” added Gamotin.
