ILOILO City – Five classrooms at Cabasi-Sta. Rosa Integrated School in Barangay Cabasi, Guimbal, Iloilo were engulfed in flames early Sunday morning, August 18.
The town’s Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said four classrooms were destroyed and one was partially damaged. All five were made of concrete and steel materials.
It added that all books and other educational materials inside the classrooms were completely burned.
BFP-Guimbal pegged the damage at around P180,000.
According to information received by Panay News, one of the teachers living nearby noticed the fire around 2 a.m. and immediately alerted the BFP.
The fire was declared under control around 2:40 a.m.
As of this writing, fire officers were still investigating the cause of the blaze./PN
