ILOILO – More than 37 vendors were displaced in a fire that gutted the public market of San Rafael town early morning on Tuesday, August 6.
The stalls mostly sold vegetables, school supplies and other items, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) – San Rafael.
It added that the fire originated from the temporary stalls made of light materials and quickly spread to the newly renovated two-storey market building.
Fire officers said a “fire out” was declared at around 4:08 a.m.
BFP-San Rafael pegged the cost of damage at P9.2 million./PN
