ILOILO City – A house was destroyed and six others were damaged in a residential fire that broke out in Zone 3, Barangay Tacas, Jaro district around 3:40 p.m. on Thursday, September 26.
The fire also displaced eight families, consisting of 36 individuals, according to the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
Barangay captain Joseph Poral said the fire victims temporarily sought shelter at the barangay hall.
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas assured that the displaced families were given assistance by the city government through the CSWDO.
“Ang aton City Social Welfare and Development Office insigida nga nagpadulong sa lugar sang nasunugan para magdul-ong sang pagkaon kag non-food items para mag-asister sa mga apektado. Goods for the community kitchen are also prepared. We will continue to coordinate with the barangay officials para ma-monitor ang sitwasyon kag ma-ensure ang safety kag well-being sang mga apektado nga mga residente,” Treñas said on Thursday night.
In a report of the Iloilo City Fire Station, the fire was raised to first alarm at 3:46 p.m. and second alarm at 3:55 p.m. A “fire out” was declared at 5:10 p.m.
No injuries or casualties were reported and the cost of damage has yet to be determined.
As of this writing, the Iloilo City Fire Station could not yet say what caused the blaze as their investigation was still ongoing./PN
