CAPIZ – A house made of mixed light materials and three motorcycles were gutted by Wednesday’s fire in Sitio Tinundan, Barangay Poblacion, President Roxas.
The properties were owned by Aquarius Bereber, 47, according to Senior Fire Officer 3 George Delfin. Damages are pegged at approximately P200,000.
Delfin said a fire call was at made 12:37 p.m. It was successfully extinguished over an hour later.
Initial investigations by the Bureau of Fire Protection suggested that a potentially neglected transistor radio could have been the cause of the fire.
This was supported by the victim’s claim regarding a sudden power surge after a prolonged brownout in the area.
In light of the incident, Delfin emphasized the importance of unplugging unused appliances, never leaving cooking unattended, and consistently turning off the liquefied petroleum gas after use as precautionary measures against potential fire hazards./PN
