ILOILO City – A structural fire erupted along the circumferential road covered by Barangay San Jose in Arevalo district in the early hours of Wednesday, April 3.
The affected establishment, identified as the M.H. Indian restaurant owned by Mylene G. Singh and Hardeep Singh, sustained total destruction, with damages estimated at P234,000.
The affected area spans approximately 156 square meters.
A multi-cab owned by the Singhs parked outside the restaurant also caught fire.
According to the Iloilo City Fire Station, the fire was reported at approximately 01:19 a.m., prompting the immediate mobilization of multiple firefighting units, with Senior Fire Officer 1 Vicente F. Garbosa leading operations as the ground commander.
The fire raged on for approximately 25 minutes before being brought under control at 1:44 a.m.
There were no reported fatalities or injuries resulting from the incident. It is learned that the establishment closes at 11 p.m. so no one was in the establishment when the blaze broke out.
As investigations into the cause of the fire commence, authorities urge residents and business owners to prioritize fire safety measures to prevent similar incidents./PN
