ILOILO City – This city recorded yet another fire incident.

A house in Barangay San Isidro, Jaro district caught fire around 3:30 a.m. yesterday, the fourth fire incident here in a week.

Authorities identified the owner of the house as punong barangay Felix Doreza.

According to Doreza, he was alone in the house. He went out to urinate and was startled seeing thick smoke coming from the first floor of his house.

Doreza’s house was made of mixed materials – concrete and wood. This was possibly why the fire did not consume the whole house or spread to neighboring residences.

“Nabugtawan na lang kuno ni kap nga grabe na ang aso sang nangihi siya mga quarter to 4 a.m., amo to dali-dali man kami kadto di. Pag-abot namon nagapamasya na si kap di sang tubi,” said Vangeline Miraflores, a barangay staff who came to help Doreza.

Electrical appliances like refrigerator, security camera monitor, early warning devices owned by the barangay, and other appliances were consumed by fire.

The fire also reached the second floor of the house and burned three rooms.

“Wala na siya diri upod kay kahapon lang gid nagpuli ang bata niya sa Ajuy kag ang mga hinablos niya nagbakasyon man,” Miraflores added.

Doreza alleged that the fire may be related to an open power line, but the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) is still investigating the cause.
BFP declared a “fire out” around 4:14 a.m.

Fire authorities estimated the total damage to be around P500,000./PN
