Fire engulfs warehouse, 7 houses

ILOILO City – An afternoon fire razed a warehouse for medical supplies and seven houses in Barangay Sambag, Jaro district yesterday.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), a fire call was made at 4:25 p.m. at Maridan Industries, Inc., where the blaze allegedly started.

Sangguniang Kabataan chair Roy Fama said a total of 26 individuals were displaced. He also confirmed the damages to the houses of:

* Ofelia Taclino – totally damaged

* Noel Bugna – totally damaged

* Ruth Boñales – partially damaged

* Russiel Jontado – partially damaged

Irish Montener’s eatery also suffered partial damage. Two additional houses were totally damaged, whose owners were yet to be identified as of this writing.

Meanwhile, six motorcycles inside the warehouse were destroyed in the fire, and a truck sustained partial damage.

The BFP is looking at faulty electrical wiring as the cause of the fire, but further investigation is ongoing. The total estimated damages are yet to be determined./PN
