BACOLOD City – Fire totally burned seven houses in Purok San Jose, Barangay Alijis.
No casualties were reported.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) received a fire call around 11:47 a.m. on Aug. 15. One Elsa Laho reported a fire on the second floor of the house owned by Marilyn Encarquez.
A “fire out” was declared at 12:48 p.m.
As of this writing, the number of partially damaged houses was yet to be determined, said Chief inspector Rodel Legaspi, city fire marshal.
But Alijis punong barangay Diogracias Dela Vega said at least 30 individuals were affected. They were temporarily housed at the barangay gymnasium. The Department of Social Services and Development extended aid.
Initial estimate of the damage reached P100,000. The houses were made of light and concrete materials, Legaspi said.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained./PN
