ILOILO City – A residential fire in Zone 3, Barangay Caingin, La Paz, which occurred at around 12:31 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5, was suspected to have been caused by an electrical issue.

Bureau of Fire Protection’s (BFP) Fire Officer 2 John Paquito Verano, arson investigator, said evidence is being collected for analysis by the Fire Laboratory Service at the BFP National Headquarters in Manila to confirm the cause.

The fire completely destroyed three houses constructed from light materials, belonging to Lorena Flora, John Angelo Calambro, and Arlo Flora.

According to Verano, the fire pattern suggested that the blaze started on the second floor of Arlo Flora’s house and rapidly spread.

Calambro reported that his family was at a wake and could not save any possessions.

Initially, smoke from their house was noticed by passersby, who did not anticipate a serious issue.

Fortunately, there were no injuries, but damages were estimated at P35,000./PN
