Fire hits house in Hamtic

BY MA. THERESA LADIAO

ANTIQUE – A fire razed a two-storey house in Barangay Buhang, Hamtic town on Tuesday afternoon, January 7.

Senior Fire Officer 1 Zandro R. Navarette, acting fire marshal of the Hamtic Fire Station, said the house owned by Ma. Shiela Mosquera had a concrete first floor and a wooden second floor.

The blaze started at around 4:44 p.m. and a “fire out” was declared at 5:30 p.m., but it left P96,000 worth of damage.

Firefighters had difficulty trying to access the area due to narrow pathways for fire trucks.

Navarette said they had to connect seven hose lines to reach the burning house.

Witnesses meanwhile told the authorities that the fire originated on the second floor and quickly spread.

Mosquera said she was the first to notice the fire, adding she observed flames engulfing the second floor./PN
