SAN JOSE, Antique – A fire destroyed 11 houses in Purok 2, Barangay Maybato North.
The blaze caused by a lit candle in Erlinda Belardo’s house around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, the initial investigation showed.
The family lighted the candle because of a power interruption, Inspector Alfredo Patricio of San Jose fire station said.
The houses were close to each other causing the fire to spread fast.
The firefighters declared “fire out” around 8 p.m.
The initial estimated cost of damage was around P580,000.
No casualty was recorded.
The affected families were staying in the barangay hall.
The local government of San Jose will give P5,000 to each affected family. The provincial government will also give them P10,000 each./PN
