ILOILO – Fire gutted the Salome Gasapo funeral homes in Barangay Girado-Magsaysay, Guimbal, Iloilo around 2:16 a.m. on Wednesday
Property damage reached P2 million.
According to Senior Fire Officer 3 Francisco Arevalo II, acting municipal fire marshal of Guimbal, strong winds fanned the fire.
Included in the things that got burned were six private vehicles and some 30 caskets.
Arevalo said a cadaver in the funeral was burned, too.
“May isa ka bangkay didto. Masubo man. Waay ta nakabalo nga may isa ‘da ka bangkay so nadalasa pa sia. Initially daw nasunog ang portion sang iya ibabaw nga body, more or less mga 50 percent,” said Arevalo.
Firefighters declared a fire-out at around 3:40 a.m.
