GUIMARAS – A Monday night blaze turned 18 sacks of palay into ashes in Barangay Lucmayan, Nueva Valencia.
The house of barangay kagawad Angelita Gaitan was left partially damaged.
No one was injured.
Unattended cooking was the possible cause, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection.
Gaitan’s husband was cooking rice but went out to do some chores. Before leaving the house, he may have used too many coconut shells for fuel, causing the fire to grow and spread.
