ANTIQUE – One fireman was injured after the brakes of the fire truck he was driving malfunctioned, causing the vehicle to turn turtle along Rizal Street, Barangay San Pedro, San Jose de Buenavista, Antique.
Fire Officer 1 Ramil T. Lucero, Jr. broke his right arm and was taken to Angel Salazar Memorial Hospital on Feb. 10.
Lucero provided assistance to a media network conducting a taping in Barangay San Pedro based on an initial investigation of the San Jose de Buenavista Municipal Fire Station. However, he noticed that the fire truck’s brakes needed brake fluid.
Lucero was on his way back to the fire station when, upon reaching a slope, he lost control of the vehicle.
“Nagparapit ang driver kanakun kag naglisensya nga mabalik ron kag dar-on na lang sa sub-station para didto lamang kid-anon kang mekaniko. So, hambal ko, aware kaw anay kag hinay-hinay lang,” said Senior Fire Officer 1 Ramil Escander, Building Plan Evaluator and Fire Safety Inspector in an interview with Radyo Bandera Sweet FM Antique, adding that the said fire truck was the very first the town acquired in 1979./PN
