Fireworks-related injuries in NegOcc jump to 58

BACOLOD City – The Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Negros Occidental has so far recorded 58 cases of fireworks-related injuries.

From Dec. 25, 2023 to Jan. 2, 2024, the PHO logged 38 blast/burn injuries with no amputations.

It also recorded 16 eye injuries, two blast/burn with no amputation with eye injury, and two blast/burn with amputation.

Kabankalan City has the highest number of injuries with 12, followed by Hinigaran town with seven and Bago City with five.

The two amputations were noted to be from Kabankalan City and Hinigaran.

Of the 58 patients, 52 were later sent home, five were transferred to another medical facility, and one required hospital admission.

The PHO’s monitoring period for fireworks-related injuries will continue until Friday, Jan. 5. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
