Firm threatens to sue CAAP for P2’-M debt’

BACOLOD City – The general manager of a local engineering company said he will press charges against the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) should the latter not settle its alleged debt worth P2,037,770.

Jacobo Bernales of the Berns Engineering Sales Services said they have supplied engineering materials to the Bacolod-Silay Airport from December 2016 to April 2018.

Bernales called for a media conference to publicize his concern that CAAP may not pay them its debt.

He added that he already reached out to CAAP in July when he sent the agency a statement of accounts.

According to Bernales, CAAP owes his company P1,164,000 for the supply and installation of four Everest 10-HP floors on Dec. 15, 2016; P175,810 for the supply of various materials for a water treatment area on March 8, 2017; P196,960 for the supply and installation of two units of Everest walls on June 15, 2017; P254,770 for the supply of a pressure roller and a handrail drive chain on June 30, 2017; and P247,000 for the installation of power supply for two units of 10-TR floors on April 1, 2018.

Airport Manager 1 Martin Terre on Aug. 22 told Bernales to provide “all additional available documents in support of the request payment/billing to Bacolod-Silay Airport.”

CAAP was also asking for the purchase order of the materials from Bernales but the latter said he cannot provide it because their transactions with the agency were all “emergency purchases.”

Panay News was still reaching CAAP for comment as of press time./PN
