ANTIQUE – A roll-on roll-off (RORO) vessel ferried the first batch of fuel tankers to this province.
Loaded with a total of 120 thousand liters of fuel, the vessel arrived at the San Jose seaport in San Jose town on Friday night, Nov. 4.
The fuel supply will be delivered to gasoline stations in Hamtic, Patnongon and San Jose towns.
The provincial government, together with its Local Price Monitoring Council, the Department of Interior and Local Government and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), decided to rent a RORO vessel to get dry goods and gasoline from Iloilo.
Gov. Rhodora J. Cadiao said the RORO vessel will transport for free the goods including gasoline or whatever businessmen will buy in Iloilo, but with the condition that they won’t increase the prices of goods sold to Antiqueños.
Cadiao said the move aims to replenish the supply of fuel as well as other commodities in the province after its isolation due to damaged bridges due to Severe Tropical Storm “Paeng”.
The governor earlier clarified that there is no shortage of fuel supply yet in the province. They only resorted to temporary rationing as a precautionary measure.
“Don’t panic, we are on top of the situation. Everybody is working hard para matagaan sang kahilwayan ang aton pangabuhi kag matugroan sang serbisyo ang mga naapektuhan sang bagyo,” Cadiao stressed./PN
