First-dose vaccination for Negros hospital staff completed

BACOLOD City – The 11 provincial government-owned hospitals in Negros Occidental have inoculated all their 2,899 medical frontliners against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said the staff of the hospitals received their first doses of either the AstraZeneca or CoronaVac vaccines.  

Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson lauded the hospitals for even exceeding their respective targets for vaccination.  

The 11 hospitals were the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City; Cadiz District Hospital in Cadiz City; Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City; Don Salvador Memorial District Hospital in La Carlota City; Vicente Gustilo District Hospital in Escalante City; Merceditas Montilla District Hospital Sipalay City; Ignacio L. Arroyo Memorial District Hospital in Isabela; Calatrava District Hospital in Calatrava; Valladolid District Hospital in Valladolid; Eleuterio T. Decena Memorial Hospital in Hinoba-an; and Valeriano M. Gatuslao Memorial Hospital in Himamaylan City.

Diaz said the provincial government of Negros Occidental could now proceed with the vaccination of the next priority groups – barangay health workers and personnel of rural health units, estimated at about 35,000.

“The Provincial Health Office and local government units are now ready. Vaccinators are also prepared for their respective assignments,” Diaz added.
