ILOILO City – The students of Dumalag Central School in Dumalag, Capiz have something to look forward to in the coming months with the three structures that will soon to rise to inspire the school children in their pursuit for learning and development.

In his speech before the approximately 200 students, parents, and teachers during the groundbreaking of the construction of a 3-Storey, 9-Classroom school building; construction of a 2-Storey, 4-Classroom school building; and completion of the multipurpose gym, District Engineer Dene B. Baldonado Jr. of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Capiz 2nd District Engineering Office said the projects have a total allocation of P45.0 million, funded thru the initiative of Capiz 2nd Legislative District Representative and House Majority Floor Leader, Congressman Fredenil H. Castro.

“We conducted an ocular inspection together with Congressman Castro and our counterparts from the District Office of the Department of Education. We then laid out the plans and designs on how we can improve the gymnasium and the school buildings,” Baldonado said.

“The existing ‘Marcos-type’ building will be replaced by a 3-Storey, 9-Classroom building. The new building’s design is modified because the rooms in the third floor have no partitions. The third floor is going to be one large hall, which can be converted into an activity center that can accommodate up to two hundred persons. This will be the first-of-its-kind in the whole province of Capiz,” he added.

He also said that the new multipurpose gym’s stage will be wider than the usual because of three additional bays. There will also be bleachers for the comfort of the audience during activities.

“Since we are constructing a 3-Storey, 9-Classroom building to the left of the gym, we decided to upgrade the school building to the right. We will construct the 2-Storey, 4-Classroom school building on that side,” he said.

Baldonado said that the three new structures worth P43.0 million will compose a multipurpose gym, a multi-use activity center, seven classrooms, a computer room, a faculty room, and a spare room for the benefit of the Dumalag Central School community.

Meantime, the residents of Bito-on in Cuartero, Capiz witnessed the ground breaking held recently for the construction of the 2-Storey, 6-Classroom school building at Bito-on Elementary School worth P12.175 million./PN
