ILOILO – Five individuals sustained injuries from a vehicular collision in C1 Road, Barangay Pakiad, Oton around 8:50 a.m. yesterday, July 12.
A pickup making a U-turn was accidentally hit by a truck from Sta. Barbara town.
Pickup driver Roel Laviles Pestano, 65, of Barangay Balabago, Jaro, Iloilo City was with his wife and their child.
Meanwhile, truck driver Rommel Jagolino Sumido, 47, of Barangay Duyan-Duyan, Sta. Barbara was with his three passengers.
Pestano’s wife and child were brought to The Medical City Iloilo, while the three truck passengers were rushed to Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao.
“Ang [pickup] driver naton wala gid samad pero ang bata niya admitted [at the hospital], at the same time under observation ang asawa niya. Natam-an ang bata nga nagapungko sa likod kay ang igo gid sang truck is center sang driver’s seat kag sa likod, tapos ang tanan nga glass didto nagtupa sa bata,” Police Staff Sergeant Ma Elena Doliguez of Oton Municipal Police Station told Panay News.
She added: “Based sa mga witnesses naton hinay lang man daw ini ang dalagan sang truck pero may ara kita nga mark nga ang pagpreno niya daw gulpiyada.”
Both sides made a settlement on the cost of damages and medications./PN
