ILOILO – Five family and youth development centers (FYDCs) will be established by the Iloilo provincial government through the Provincial Population Office (PPO).
Chosen as pilot locations of the FYDC are the towns of Igbaras, Santa Barbara, Calinog, Sara, and Passi City.
Atty. Ruel Von D. Superio, Provincial Population Officer, said the two-story building will provide a venue for the conduct of pre-marriage orientation and counseling sessions, population and development programs and projects, and training and activities for youth-related programs.
The first floor will serve as the Provincial Population Office in city/municipalities and will also be home to the Barangay Service Point Officers.
The second floor will cater to the Local Youth Development Office, the Office/Session Hall of the Sangguniang Kabataan, and the Local Youth Development Council Office.
The provincial government, headed by Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr., has allotted P25 million for the construction of one FYDC per district.
This project is a level-up strategy of the PPO in strengthening program implementation for the family and youth, in collaboration with our project partners, towards the MoRProGRes development agenda of the province.
The proposed establishment of five FYDCs was presented by Superio to the local chief executives during the first League of Municipalities of the Philippines-Iloilo chapter meeting held at Damires Hills Resort in Janiuay town on Friday, February 23./PN
