BACOLOD City – As sugar mills in Negros Occidental roar back to life later this month, the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) reminded cane truck drivers to properly follow the load height limit to avoid accidents.
BTAO head Police Major Junji Liba said cane trucks are only allowed a certain height limit when it comes to loading sugarcane – 14 feet from the ground up to the top of the truck.
Liba said trucks that exceed this height limit will not be allowed to pass through Bacolod City and issued with citation tickets.
The height limit was put in place to avoid trucks hitting power lines and telecommunication cables.
Liba further added that they will strictly follow the city’s ordinance against cane trucks that are overloaded to avoid road accidents./PN
