ILOILO City – Food authorities here are optimistic that the province will reach its 2020 procurement target for palay before the year ends.
National Food Authority (NFA) Iloilo provincial manager Jose Mario Adan Pacificador said since January this year, they have already procured 810,458 bags of palay, as of Oct. 5, 2020.
“Our target for the year is 889,900 bags and we are very optimistic that we could reach our target, even exceed it,” he said.
For September alone, Pacificador said NFA Iloilo was able to procure 241,815 bags of palay in the province.
He added that the agency posted 186.01 percent accomplishment, compared to its procurement target of 130,000 bags for the month.
For the remaining months of 2020, the following are the procurement targets: 200,000 bags for October; 220,000 bags for November; and 110,000 bags for December, Pacificador said.(with PIA6 Iloilo/PN)
