For confidential reasons

THERE is no doubt that the entertaining spectacle nowadays consuming public interest is the quadcomm inquiry on anomalous transactions on the confidential funds of Vice President Sara in the operations of her office and during her stint as Secretary of the Department of Education.

Both offices have access to millions of public funds which, being confidential, should (as she contends) remain secret – secret for her eyes only. Her avowal is that none should dare question her. But thou art human…. only Woman…Madam…or are you a man?

The real secret, however, is only between you and God. And God is not a squealer.

Apparently, the loot…ah, largesse, is shared to none but a favored few close to the ladle…and the clamoring public excluded from the shower of manna from heaven. Thus, the outcry for transparency and accounting for whom the bell tolls.

In a comic relief, there are recipients on paper for the P125-million Confidential funds, which the legislators have no confidence in its authenticity and are looking for the con man.

In the records, they have doubts whether Mary Jane Piattos and Kokoy Villamin are actual persons because of their kinship to Karen Kropeck and Yoyoy Villame, Potatoy Chips and Koki.

Ah, what’s in a name? A rose by any other name would smell the same. And that which comes from your behind…would sell as SH*T… I mean, sweet.

The discovery of the anomalies, masked in folds of deception, were ultimately unravelled by the extraordinary inquisitorial skills of our legislators, some of whom have attained a shine of their own.

In a revealing light, the inquiry clearly established the academic excellence of some legislators, the condescending nature of others; so-so performers; the outright incoherent dumbells and send-in-the-clowns. These personalities, according to your choice, who, have handled themselves well in the interrogation process, through national TV coverage and social media, are good sources of our future political leaders.

On the part of the star of the show, VP Sara now probably has the chance to show the Filipino people that she deserved their vote of confidence, rise above the strife and prove her finest qualities of leadership.

She is a lawyer, ands foremost, a woman; and at first blush has the built-in advantage of her gender. She did not come across as an object of respect and veneration, honor and integrity; gentle and decent; a well-mannered composed and seasoned public official worthy of her title as VP of this glorious Lupang Hinirang.

All throughout the lengthy investigation, she wore a scowl and frown; raved and ranted, eliciting comments about her mental state; threatened to murder the President, his spouse and the Speaker of the House. OMG, this is our Vice President. One bullet shot away from being the President of the land.

So far, her actions have installed her as a candidate for impeachment; charges of plunder; sedition; malversation; grave coercion; serious disobedience to an agent of a person in authority; and disbarment for actions unbecoming of an officer of the law and violative of the lawyers’ Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
