ILOILO City – Mayor Jerry Treñas is allowing flower vendors to do business at Jaro Plaza and on the sidewalks of the Iloilo Central Market but only for two days – today and tomorrow, Valentine’s Day.
Treñas previously banned vendors from public plazas. He also ordered the removal of all sidewalk obstructions, including vendors.
“Para mahapos sa tanan,” said Treñas of his decision to go soft on the vendors. “Para kon sin-o gusto maghatag bulak sa imo, mahapusan siya kon diin mabakal.”
Flower vendors were among those displaced when the city government started clearing sidewalks beginning August last year.
In the City Proper, most flower vendors positioned themselves on the sidewalk outside the Iloilo Central Market. When the city government started clearing the sidewalks, they transferred inside the market./PN
