For Singaporeans, Bacolod City among top ‘emerging destinations’

BACOLOD City – This city has been listed among the top emerging destinations for Singaporeans in 2019.

“Based on APAC (Asia-Pacific) Travel Trends Report, Bacolod is the fifth top emerging destination for Singaporean tourists next year,” reported a national publication.

Skyscanner author Paul Andrew cited San Sebastian Cathedral and The Ruins as among the top attractions drawing visitors to this city.

The publication also cited Bacolod City’s colorful MasKara Festival as another must-witness attraction for tourists.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia considered the report a welcome surprise. He said this was also his reaction after finding out that the Department of Tourism listed Bacolod City – after only Boracay Island – as the top Western Visayas area with the most number of foreign visitors this year.

“That only goes to show that indeed we have the attractions and potential to develop our city,” the mayor stressed.

He further said that they are pushing for meetings, incentives, conventions, and events (MICE) tourism for the city’s local hospitality industry to prosper, because Bacolod does not possess natural attractions.

The MassKara has become an icon and attraction of Bacolod that is why the proposed Bacolod Coliseum will be called the Bacolod Masskara  Coliseum to enhance the promotion of MassKara Festival and the “City of Smiles.”/PN
