ILOILO – The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) lauded all force multipliers who have been augmenting the police in the implementation of border control points across this province since the start of June.
“Without them, our police would be exhausted,” said Police Colonel Gilbert Gorero, IPPO director.
Gorero acknowledged the help of more than 2,000 force multipliers that included barangay tanods, barangay officials and community-based organizations amid Iloilo’s modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) status. These people render duty at the checkpoints in municipal boundaries here.
“Several groups, aside from the barangay tanod members and officials, offered their services for free to ensure that public movement is restricted to essentials,” Gorero said.
He added: “The public must understand how taxing this job is for us. We are simply lucky that there are organizations augmenting our manpower in guarding checkpoint areas. We are deeply thankful to them.”
Three to five border control checkpoints are established in each town.
Gorero once again appealed for public cooperation, particularly the strict observance of the minimum health standards to curb coronavirus transmission./PN
