ILOILO City – Soil eroded in a housing project’s construction site in Barangay Tingib, Pandan, Antique, killing a foreman and hurting one of the construction workers.
The 44-year-old Noel Dela Cruz of Barangay Manoling, President Roxas, Capiz had head injury, which caused his death.
The 39-year-old Cyrus Garcia of Pandan, Antique, on the other hand, sustained an injury on the left foot.
Police Officer 2 Raffy Latinio, the investigator of the case, said Dela Cruz and Garcia were attending to the drainage system of the housing project when the erosion occurred around 5:40 p.m. on May 24.
Dela Cruz fell and hit his head on the concrete part of the drainage.
Dela Cruz and Garcia were rushed to the Justice Calixto O. Zaldivar Memorial Hospital in Pandan where the former expired.
Garcia was still confined in the hospital undergoing treatment.
The housing project is that of the National Housing Authority. The beneficiaries of the project are super typhoon “Yolanda” victims who are residents from barangays Tingib, Sto. Rosario and Sta. Cruz in Pandan./PN
