BACOLOD City – Two men are facing charges for violation Presidential Decree 705 (Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines) and Republic Act 9147 (Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act of 2001).
Lando Teves, 51, was a resident of Barangay Damutan, Hinobaan, Negros Occidental while Rolando Pabores, 42, was from Barangay 2, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.
They were suspects in the burning of about two hectares of forested land in Sitio Salapion, Barangay Damutan.
Joint forces of the 2nd Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company, Hinoba-an municipal police station and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources office in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental arrested the men around 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 19.
The Hinoba-an police took custody of Teves and Pabores./PN
