ROXAS City – A former jueteng operator is now the consultant for marketing and operations of Small Town Lottery (STL) in Capiz.

Alberto “Jojo” Roldan was chosen for the position because “he knows the business well,” according to Allan Paclibar, representative of the Five Star Gaming and Entertainment Corp., the STL franchisee in the province.

Before he accepted the consultancy job, Roldan said he made “several STL observations.”

“STL results must be unquestionable because this will not only protect the interest of STL and Five Star Gaming and Entertainment Corp. but most importantly the bettors,” added Roldan.

Roldan is the fourth person hired for STL consultancy in Capiz. The three others were terminated after STL-Capiz faced closure for failure to remit its obligations to the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

“We are happy because the STL is becoming stable now,” Paclibar said.

Roldan, being an ally of Gov. Antonio del Rosario, was asked if the latter already changed his stance over STL.

Del Rosario has publicly opposed STL operations in Capiz from the onset.

Roldan said he respects del Rosario’s views but “wala man sia may mahimo kay legal man ang STL.”

Currently, STL-Capiz has around 80 employees and 1,500 sales representatives and supervisors who are earning on a commission basis.

Roldan said those who were engaged in jueteng before are now with STL.

“They are of themselves and in high morale,” he added. “Ang gaupod lang sa daily double (jeuteng) sang una mga maisog lang kay illegal kag ginadakop. Limitado ang mga tawo nga matagaan namon bulig kag mabuligan sang illegal pa unlike today damo ang gusto magsulod.

Magluwas nga legal, madamo pa benipisyo ang mahatag sa ila,” Roldan stressed./PN
