ILOILO City – A family of four will welcome the New Year behind bars after they were caught with suspected shabu worth P1.2 million in a buy-bust operation on Christmas Day, December 25, in Barangay Calumpang, Molo district.
The suspects were identified as aliases “Kulit Sr.,” 59, his wife “Inday,” 56, and their two children, “Caloy,” 21, and “Nene,” 20.
Officers of the Iloilo City Police Station 4 led by Captain Ryan Christ Inot recovered approximately 150 grams of suspected shabu in the operation.
According to Captain Inot, this was not the first time the family had been involved in illegal drug activities. Barangay officials had previously warned them to stop their operations, but the warnings went unheeded.
Further investigations revealed that two other children of the couple are currently incarcerated for drug-related charges — one at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa and the other at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Barangay Ungka, Jaro.
The Molo police also discovered that the family’s clientele mainly came from Molo, City Proper, and Arevalo districts.
The suspects were detained at the Molo police station. They will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
