BACOLOD City – Four men landed in jail for attacking a police officer in Purok 7, Barangay 2, Manapla, Negros Occidental.
Randy Fortella, 37; Jerry Arca, 29; Jun Jun Arca, 31; and Fernan Ponteras, 40, all residents of the aforementioned barangay, were facing direct assault and alarm and scandal charges.
Captain Marion Vicente Buenaflor, chief of the Manapla police station, identified the victim as Patrolman Jury Bromo, assigned at Technical Support Company of Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 in Dumangas, Iloilo.
According to Buenaflor, Bromo approached the suspects who were in a drinking binge in an alleyway near his house after residents in the area complained of the disturbance they caused around 11 p.m. on July 14.
Instead of listening, the suspect allegedly mauled the cop and hit him with a shovel, the police chief added.
The suspects are currently detained at the custodial facility of the Manapla police station./PN
