ANTIQUE – Four minors were injured when an uprooted kamunsil tree fell on them around 1 p.m. yesterday, October 23, in Barangay Egaña, Sibalom town in this province.
The victims who were residents of barangays Egaña and Inabasan in Sibalom and Caridad, Hamtic were onboard two motorcycles.
According to Broderick Train, head of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the tree was uprooted due to heavy rains and strong winds brought by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.
The victims were brought to the health center for proper care.
As of 5 p.m. yesterday, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 was in effect in Antique including Caluya Island.
Kristine has intensified into a severe tropical storm, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Its center was estimated at 175 kilometers east of Echague, Isabela. It has maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 115 kph./PN
