ILOILO City – The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) will activate four new police stations on July 2.
This initiative, confirmed by ICPO director Police Colonel Joeresty Coronica, aims to enhance law enforcement and public safety in the city.
The new stations, facilitated by completed Deeds of Usufruct, are located in the following:
* Barangay Tanza Esperanza in the City Proper (Police Station 7)
* Barangay Bo. Obrero in Lapuz district (Police Station 8)
* Barangay M.H. Del Pilar in Jaro district (Police Station 9)
* Gaisano ICC in Mandurriao district (Police Station 10)
Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) director Brigadier General Jack Wanky has invited Philippine National Police cief General Rommel Francisco Marbil to the activation ceremony.
Each new police station has an appointed officer-in-charge:
* Police Captain Joebert Amado for Police Station 7 at iCare Center, Barangay Tanza Esperanza
* Police Captain Lester Oliveros for Police Station 8 at the old Barangay Hall of Bo. Obrero
* Police Captain Jeffrey Delgado for Police Station 9 at Uswag Youth Center, Barangay M.H. del Pilar
* Police Captain Nonito Venteroso for Police Station 10 at Gaisano ICC
These stations are expected to improve crime response and provide easier access to police services in their respective areas.
As early as May 20, 2024, the PRO-6 assigned 132 personnel to the ICPO to support the new stations’ impending activation.
Mayor Jerry Treñas also announced plans to relocate Iloilo City Police Station 1 (ICPS1) next to the Iloilo City Hall. However, due to the current lack of a new building, ICPS1 will temporarily remain on General Luna Street in the City Proper, adjacent to the ICPO headquarters./PN
