ILOILO City – The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has launched connectivity sites of “Pipol Konek” or the “Free Internet Access in Public Places” project in this city.
There were 24 sites in the metropolis where Wi-Fi connection can be accessed.
Each user will be given a minimum of 256 kilobits per second (kbps) and maximum of two megabits per second (mbps).
The Wi-Fi hotspots were in the following:

* Iloilo Science and Technology University

* Iloilo NHS
* Iloilo City NHS
* Jaro NHS

* TCT-AR Foundation Integrated School
* Fort San Pedro NHS
* Melchor L. Nava NHS
* Bo. Obrero NHS
* Santo Rosario Health Center (HC)
* Barrio Obrero HC
* Iloilo City Proper HC
* Jaro II District HC
* La Paz District HC
* Arevalo HC
* Iloilo City Public Library
* Iloilo City Pier
* Plaza Libertad A and B
“This initiative means a lot to us. Most residents now use the internet for research and to connect with people around the globe,” said Mayor Jose Espinosa III.
Pipol Konek aims to raise digital literacy and citizen productivity through easy access to government online services, information, and other online opportunities.
