ILOILO City – The Antique provincial government may allow a temporary fuel depot on board a barge at the Marina port in San Jose town.
Through the depot barge, gasoline supply will no longer be a concern especially for gas stations that would want to resupply.
For now, Gov. Rhodora Cadiao said, they are in the process of complying with the requirements because there is still some approval needed considering that the area is populated.
“Hopefully sige-sige na, wala nang pila, wala nang away,” said Cadiao.
After the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm “Paeng”, Iloilo – which is Antique’s primary source of various commodities – became inaccessible because of damaged bridges. Fuel tankers were among those adversely affected.
To resolve this, the provincial government rented a roll-on/roll-off (RORO) vessel to ferry fuel tankers and other goods and commodities procured by businessmen from Iloilo.
Cadiao said the RORO vessel will transport for free the goods including gasoline or whatever businessmen will buy in Iloilo, but with the condition that they won’t increase the prices of goods sold to Antiqueños./PN
