MANILA – The Negrense boxer could have already landed his final punch in the ring.

The future of Allan Vallespin now lies uncertain after undergoing a successful surgery.

Boxing promoter Gabriel “Bebot” Elorde Jr. said the Bacolod City-native Vallespin was operated due to hemoperitoneum (presence of blood in the peritoneal cavity) at the Olivares Hospital in Paranaque City on April 5.

Baka hindi na siya makabalik sa boxing. ‘Yun ang sabi ng doctor niya,” Elorde said. “Nagkaroon ng patay na dugo sa tiyan niya or yung hemoperitoneum, so, he was immediately operated and it was successful.”

According to Elorde, Vallespin could have gotten his injury through a low blow in his technical knockout defeat to Junior Kauko Raka of Papua New Guinea.

Vallespin was hurt anew during a sparring session while preparing for a non-title bout against compatriot Zoren Pama, which was supposedly scheduled on April 22.

Nung laban niya sa Papua New Guinea last year, na-low blow siya nung kalaban niya at na-ospital siya after that match.

The 25-year-old Vallespin has a 12-5-0 win-loss-draw card, including nine victories by way of stoppages. The Negrense boxer, however, was defeated in his last three matches./PN
