GAB to Global FC: Explain issue on salaries of players

MANILA – Aside from the possibility of having its Philippines Football League (PFL) license revoked, Global Football Club is also in danger of getting blacklisted by the Games and Amusements Board (GAB).

The regulatory body for professional sports said in a statement over the weekend it has given the Global FC management 10 days to explain why some of its players and staff were deprived of their salaries.

“To comply with the due process requirements, the Board has conducted (an) investigation and thus issued a show cause order to the management of Global FC to explain its side in writing within 10 days from receipt of such order,” GAB stressed.

Global was on fire recently after Bacolod City-based graphic designer Saya Jaruda complained that Tami Mazinyi, the current owner of the club, has not yet paid him for providing graphics announcing the team’s new acquisitions.

Jaruda’s social media post led some of Global FC’s current players John Cofie, Negrense Gerardo Valmayor, Daniel Gadia and Angelo Marasigan to also come out regarding their unpaid salaries.

Following a meeting with the PFL, Global Makati vowed to settle the salary situation by Monday.

However, there are no updates yet if the club already made at least some payments to its players./PN
