BACOLOD City — An official of the Games and Amusement Board (GAB) warned against holding cockfights unauthorized by local government units.
GAB chair Juan Ramon “Monju” Guanzon, a Negrense, issued the warning in light of reports saying illegal cockfighting events are frequent here.
Guanzon said unscrupulous operators would obtain a permit for a cockfight but would hold more events on dates not covered by their permit.
These additional events thereby “get a semblance of legality” but are in fact illegal, he stressed.
Guanzon said this action violates GAB’s anti-illegal gambling mandate under Administrative Order Nos. 262 series of 1992 and 262 series of 1995.
GAB asked the city government here to furnish it copies of cockfighting permits the latter has issued./PN
