BACOLOD Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts promised to give their all as they represent Western Visayas in the 2018 Rebisco Volleyball League National Finals starting today at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Thunderbolts assistant coach Roberto Calamba Jr. told the Buzzer Beater that the team is more focus on gaining experience in the week-long tournament, which also features three foreign teams from New Zealand, Malaysia and Hawaii.
“We are here to gain experience because we knew we will be facing some of the tough high school teams in the country and some international teams as well,” Calamba said.
“But, rest assured, we will do our very best to represent the Western Visayas well,” he added. “Just like in the other tournaments we played in, we will give our best each game.”
Leading the way for the Thunderbolts are setters Katherine Shaine Cortez and Rhean Hebraica Almendralejo, outside attackers Shane Carmona, Dya Hanica Mejos, Kyrzten Annikha Cabasac, Alyssa Bertolano, and Erika Jin Deloria.
Also in the roster are middle blockers Joan Marie Monares, Aurea Claudette Alvero and Kiesha Dazzie Bedonia, and liberos Kathleen Kate Tan and Jeanny Padilla, who will play for University of the Philippines Lady Maroons next year.
The Thunderbolts will open its campaign against Sarawak of Malaysia today followed by St. Alexius College on Sunday and Leyte National High School on Monday.

Assumption School-Passi and the Don Eugenio Ladrido Elementary School earned the right to represent Zone 4 in the semifinals of the 1st Province of Iloilo Inter-School Sports Competition basketball in Passi City.
Assumption School-Passi claimed the first semifinals seat in the high school division after a 68-62 victory over Banate National High School in the knockout match.
Don Eugenio Ladrido Elementary School, on the other hand, moved on to the next round in the elementary division after a 66-48 domination over Calinog Central Elementary School.
The two Zone 4 representatives will now wait for the semifinalists from Zones 1, 2 and 3 to be held on Dec. 1 at the Iloilo Sports Complex.
Championship match is on Dec. 2.
Zone 4 comprises of schools from Passi City, San Dionisio, Barotac Viejo, and Banate, while at Zone 1, which will have their eliminations on Nov. 17 and 18, are Oton, Tigbauan, Guimbal, Miag ao, and Alimodian.
Zone 2 (Leon, Pavia, Sta Barbara, Leganes, Zarraga, New Lucena, and Cabatuan) and Zone 3 (Pototan, Janiuay, Lambunao, Calinog, and Bingawan) will play their eliminations on Nov. 24 and 25./PN
