Gale warning cancels sea trips

BACOLOD City – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Negros Occidental cancelled all sea trips over the weekend following a gale warning from the state weather bureau.

This city and some areas in the province were placed under storm signal No. 1 due to tropical storm “Auring” (international name: “Dujuan”).

No vessel of any type or tonnage was allowed to sail, said PCG-Negros Occidental commander Captain Ludovico Librilla Jr.

At least 20 persons composed of helpers assigned in transporting rolling cargoes got stranded at the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp. (Bredco) port here late Saturday afternoon. They were advised to go home.

Aside from the Bredco and Banago ports in Bacolod City, the ports in Cadiz City, Sagay City, Escalante City, Calatrava, and San Carlos City also suspended sea trips as early as Saturday morning.

In its 5 p.m. bulletin yesterday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration hoisted storm signal No. 1 in the following areas: Kabankalan City, Himamaylan City, Binalbagan, Isabela, Moises Padilla, Hinigaran, La Castellana, Pontevedra, San Enrique, La Carlota City, Pulupandan, Valladolid, Bago City, Murcia, Bacolod City, Talisay City, Silay City, EB Magalona, Victorias City, Manapla, Cadiz City, Sagay City, Escalante City, Toboso, Calatrava, San Carlos City, and Don Salvador Benedicto./PN
