MANILA – Green Archers United – Iloilo kept its unbeaten record in the PFF Youth Football League U-15 with a 3-0 victory over Agilas Manila Star Team FC at the Alabang Country Club in Muntinlupa City.
James Tuazon fired two goals while Charles Mana-ay fired another for GAU-Iloilo to end the elimination round on top with six wins and a draw.
“This victory is a huge morale boost for us,” said Tuazon, a native of Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo.
“We have a collective effort in this win. I am also thankful to the coaching staff for inspiring me and giving me courage every time I play,” he said.
Both team struggled with their shots early in the May 27 match until GAU-Iloilo broke the scoring drought in the 23rd minute on a simple loop shot by Tuazon.
Agilas had chances to tie the scores but failed to convert until GAU-Iloilo raised the advantage in the 73rd minute on a Tuazon conversion from a pass by Jhon Calamba.
Agilas’ defense further dwindled late in the match, practically letting GAU-Iloilo get away on the offense – and eventually led to a goal by Mana-ay, who hit the right side of the net.
GAU-Iloilo will have a lengthy break from action before returning for the second part of the tournament on either July or August./PN
