GLOBAL Business Power Corporation (GBP), through subsidiaries Panay Energy Development Corporation and Panay Power Corporation, joined hands with various education stakeholders for Brigada Eskwela 2019.
Brigada Eskwela, or the National Schools Maintenance Week, enjoins private companies, local communities and other stakeholders to give students and teachers a more promising and fun-learning school year by doing repairs, cleaning and beautification of the school and its surroundings prior to the opening of classes in June.
GBP, across its sites in Iloilo, Aklan and Mindoro, has supported this activity since 2004 through donations of various cleaning and construction materials. In addition, employee volunteers, together with the parents of GBP scholars, help in the repainting of classrooms, repair of chairs and tables, and maintenance of landscape.
GBP First Vice President for Panay Site Operations Nilo MadridĀ highlighted the importance of various stakeholders coming together for a common cause, āWe at GBP are proud to be long-time partners of DepEdās Brigada Eskwela, and we will strive to ensure that our adopted schools remain safe and conducive for learning,ā he said.
GBP operates 11 power generation facilities in Cebu, Iloilo, Aklan, and Mindoro. In 2017, the company acquired a 50 percent stake in Mindanao-based Alsons Thermal Energy Corporation./PN
