MANILA – Quezon City Gerflor Defenders head coach Sammy Acaylar admitted there is an internal problem among his players and the management with regards to salary.
The multi-titled volleyball head coach said in a post-game presser on Thursday that he has told the management to resolve the issue and make sure that the players are not aggrieved.
“There is a problem, alam naman ninyo siguro kumalat siya so maybe it is up to the management to answer that,” Acaylar said. “As I said earlier ayaw naming pangunahan ang management.”
“Sabi ko sa kanila na susuporta ako sa kanila basta aalagaan nila ang mga players. Galing din ako dyan eh, I have been a coach for how many years, ayaw ko din sila madehado,” he added.
“At the moment trabaho muna kami, tsaka na kami kikilos if worse comes to worse. So hanggat maari sana maresolba ang problema. I told my players na kung wala talagang solusyon, that is the time na kikilos kami,” he further said.
“Ayaw naming mangyari na kaming mga players and coaches ang mag-sacrifice sa nangyayari because we do our jobs and ang mga players nagpakapagod sila, they try their best na manalo at maka-score,” Acaylar continued.
Acaylar admitted that his players are demoralized but he did everything as a veteran coach to motivate them to focus on their remaining games in the PVL All-Filipino Conference.
“Actually mababa ang morale nila. Sino ba namang players ang…natalo na nga kami tapos mayroon pang problema, but I control my players,” Acaylar said.
“Lahat ng alam kong motivation I give it to the players para lang hindi maapektuhan, kasi may mga players na ayaw nang mag laro, ayaw ko namang ma-spoil ang liga kaya kinokontrol ko ang players ko basta trabaho lang kami,” he added.
Acaylar further explained that it is hard to compare Gerflor with the other competing teams in the PVL since they were just formed recently and some of their players came from long layoff.
“Alam naman natin na bago ang team, bago ang mga players, kailangan nila ang long training, karamihan sa kanila kababalik lang from the military,” Acaylar said.
“Hindi naman kami makakuha ng malalakas na players kasi limited lang ang binibigay sa amin (na pondo),” he added. “But we are doing our jobs kaya sana maayos na ito.”
Gerflor came under fire after a social media post from their supposed player went viral regarding the delayed salary of the players and unsafe training venue.
The PVL, in a statement on Thursday, said they are conducting an investigation on the issued surrounding the team as they urged the public to be patient as they try to resolve the issue./PN
