ILOILO – The Department of Health will deploy “ghost patients” across the Philippines starting next week to check if health workers perform based on their mandate.
Health secretary Paulyn Jean Ubial told a national staff meeting in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental on Thursday the ghost patients will head to government hospitals, as well as barangay health centers and clinics.
They will assess the services provided to them, what services were available at the time of their visit and how they were treated, Ubial said.
According to the Health secretary, this allows for a “proactive” monitoring of the behavior of health professionals.
In every health facility, the most important person is the patient, the very reason for the existence of doctors, nurses and other health professionals, Ubial said. (PNA)
