And just like any other Christmas celebration every Filipino looks forward to, The Giant Lantern Festival is surely one of the most anticipated event every year. Originated from San Fernando City, Pampanga, The Giant Lantern Festival features the Kapampangan’s creativity and artisanship in parol-making. The festival is held every December with its culminating activity – the grand display, awarding and recognition of the best Christmas parol hosted by the city’s leading lifestyle center, Robinsons Starmills – the official venue of the Giant Lantern Festival for over a decade now.
This year, the beloved tradition continues not only for the Kapampangans but also to the rest of the country – expanding its reach to the eastern and southern part of Luzon and all the way to Visayas. Get ready for a special preview of the spectacular 10-feet Giant Lanterns at Robinsons Place Iloilo from Oct. 26 to 28.
The Giant Lantern caravan, which was formally launched on Oct. 1 at Robinsons Place Manila, was celebrated with special performances from CSFP Dance Ensemble and ceremonial lighting of the Giant Lantern.
The Giant Lantern’s culminating event – the grand competition night will be held in Robinsons Starmills on Dec. 14 followed by nightly displays starting Dec. 15, 2019 to Jan. 1, 2020, not including Dec. 31./PN
