MANILA – Gilas Pilipinas naturalized center Andray Blatche could serve as NLEX Road Warriors import for the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup if ever the national team qualifies to the 2019 FIBA World Cup.
According to reports, the former Washington Wizards and Brooklyn Nets center will join the Road Warriors as part of the national team’s preparation for the World Cup in China in August.
If everything falls into place, the 6-foot-11 Blatche will come in handy for the Road Warriors, which were decimated with the suspension of Kiefer Ravena and season-ending knee injury of Kevin Alas.
The 32-year-old Blatche is currently under contract with the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) team Tianjin Gold Lions but will be available to join the Road Warriors by April.
The Gilas Pilipinas is currently fighting for a spot in the 2019 FIBA World Cup qualifier as it battles Kazakhstan on late Sunday evening at the Saryaka Velodome in Astana, Kazakhstan.
The Joseller Guiao-mentored national squad needs a win over Kazakhstan and hope that other World Cup slot chasers Jordan and Lebanon to drop their matches also last night./PN
