MANILA – Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings will aim for the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup coronation when it takes on Meralco Bolts in Game 5 of the finals tonight at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The Kings can clinch its third Governors’ Cup crown in four years in the match that begins at 7 p.m.

It had a methodical 94-72 win over the Bolts in Game 4 on Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Kings head coach Tim Cone hopes his wards will once again be “methodical” against the Bolts. He expects their opponents to give their all to stretch the series to another match.

“We were very methodical (in Game 4) in breaking them down on the offensive side,” said Cone. “We were very methodical out there. We weren’t rushing. We built the lead slowly then kept it when we got it.”

Added Cone: “We did a great job against (Allen) Durham. We held him to eight points at halftime. If you’re gonna do that to a player like that, you better win the basketball game. Team-wise, I thought we played him well.”

Bolts mentor Norman Black, for his part, said while their lopsided defeat to the Kings the other night was an embarrassing one, he expects his players to quickly recover from that heading into tonight’s match.

“For me, it was an embarrassment to the PBA that we came out and didn’t give them a better fight. We got beat very, very badly for the second game in a row in the hustle stats, and we just have to do a much better job to represent the company and represent the league,” Black said.

He added: “We just have to do a better job on transition defense, half-court defense. If we don’t score, I’m not really too concerned about that because if you play good defense, then you’ll probably end up scoring. Good defense normally leads to scoring. I just wanna see more effort.”/PN
