MANILA – Justin Brownlee of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings will lead the list of reinforcements suiting up in the second conference of the 2021 PBA Season later this month.
The 33-year-old Brownlee is suiting up for the Kings for the eighth time after helping the squad to PBA championships in the 2016, 2017 and 2019-2020 Governors’ Cup and the 2018 Commissioner’s Cup.
Brownlee also played and won a championship with San Miguel-Alab Pilipinas in the ASEAN Basketball League.
He suited up in NBA G-League with Maine Red Claws and Erie Bayhawks.
Despite not playing for the Kings since January 2020, Brownlee remains in basketball shape. He recently came from an import stint with the Al Sharjah in the UAE National Basketball League.
Newly-crowned Philippine Cup champions TNT Tropang Giga, on the other hand, will bank on McKenzie Moore for its bid to sweep the championships in the 2021 PBA Season.
The 29-year-old Moore already played for the TNT in the East Asia Super League Terrific 12 in Macao in 2019 and also suited up for Mighty Sports-Philippines that swept the 2019 William Jones Cup in Taiwan.
Meralco Bolts, on the other hand, is tapping the services of NBA veteran Shabazz Muhammad since their resident import Allen Durham is currently signed with Japan’s B.League.
Apart from Brownlee, other returning imports were Mike Harris (Magnolia Pambansang Manok Hotshots), Paul Harris (Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters), Henry Walker (Rain or Shine Elasto Painters), Brendan Brown (San Miguel Beermen), KJ McDaniels (NLEX Road Warriors), and Olu Ashaolu (Alaska Aces).
Aside from Moore and Muhammad, also playing for the first time in the PBA were Antonio Hester of the Terrafirma Dyip, Jaylen Bond of Blackwater Bossing and Cameron Forte of NorthPort Batang Pier.
The PBA were just waiting for the approval of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases before starting the import-laden conference by late November./PN
